To the untrained eye, mulch is mulch is mulch. But at E.A. Quinn Landscape Contracting, we take our mulch very seriously! And when we travel throughout Connecticut installing mulch in planting beds and playgrounds, we make sure we only deliver the best!
For planting beds, we offer a variety of mulches, such as hemlock, pine bark and dark dyed brown. We also offer mulch blowing services, which are ideal for coverage on hills, steep inclines and large areas. Our 500-foot mulch blowing hose can reach any tight location.
For playscapes and playgrounds, we use only IPEMA-certified mulch. Was is IPEMA certified?
IPEMA stands for International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association. This association looks after all companies and manufacturers that deal with the installation and maintenance of play structures. The overall broad goal of the organization is to oversee proper installation and care of playground equipment and surroundings so children do not get injured while on playgrounds. IPEMA is a nonprofit, membership-based association that in a sense polices its industry to ensure corners are not cut and companies installing or maintaining playground equipment are properly trained and performing the work correctly.
E.A. Quinn installs IPEMA certified playground mulch. So what exactly does that mean? The manufacturers that make the mulch we install have to go through a series of tests to determine if they are manufacturing the wood chip mulch appropriately. The facilities of the manufacturer are inspected by an IPEMA inspector to ensure that the wood chip mulch is free of any debris. Special magnets and screens are installed on the equipment to ensure no debris such as glass, metal, magnets, etc. are processed and end up in the mulch. Once an inspector is satisfied that the mulch has been manufactured correctly, he certifies that product.
Each tractor trailer load of mulch received at E.A. Quinn comes accompanied with an IPEMA certification stating that the product has been tested, observed and warranted to be safe for playgrounds. This makes it an ideal product for public playgrounds run by parks and recreation departments, playgrounds at schools or playgrounds at daycare centers.
